cabdriver: lucky u have a car behind you. thats why i stopped to pick you up
: (confused) huh? why?
cabdriver: just behind you is a cemetery you know.
: what????
cabdriver: ya, so i was quite surprise to see you there. I check to make sure your feet ah, got touch the ground. Then i dare to pick you up.
That was freakish. Actually, the driver was right, he had every reason to think that i wasn't human. My friend stopped me in the middle of a stretch of road that had nothing nearby, and of all places, in front of a cemetery, it was dark, past 12mn so we didn't see the cemetery... why would there be a gal appearing in the middle of nowhere hailing for a cab?
15...
Today was my first attempt at running 15k.
I found it pretty tough and i thought to myself, if 15k is this tiring, how am i ever going to complete a half marathon? I mean seriously, i reached a point where my heart was feeling fine, i could still move, i wasn't too out of breath, but my legs just couldn't move anymore. Especially the left. also, i no longer felt my legs. except for the 2nd toe on my left because the nail from the 3rd was rubbing into the it. it hurts.after the run, i removed my socks only to doscover that it was rather blood soaked. gross!
And then i went for ballet. still couldn't feel much of my feet so it was rather amusing to hear my teaher giving my the "look" and going "Point your feet!"
I have to feel comfortable running 15k to be sure that i can survive 21k..Its been 6 hrs since i ran, i still feel burnt out. Labels: runs
wats in a name??
I have a friend who just got baptised. And she gets a name to go along with it too. For months, she has been trying to decide on a name, and being a naturally deep thinker (who thinks in circles), she has been unable to make a decision.
She finally got baptised without a baptism name.
Whats in a name really? A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet. (an inaccuate shakespeare quote)
We are born with a name. One which we didn't choose but was decided by most likely our parents. Its like a package. a bundle which we have for life. I suppose if i had the choice, I my name won't be what it is now. A name is probably an acquired liking. One we get use to and hopefully grow to like. Give someone a choice and she can't decide. Whats the point?
When I was 7, i thought elizabeth was such a nice name. Sounds so grand and majestic. Reminds me of the queen.
When i turned 8, i thought that Rebecca was a nice name too and wished that it was mine.
Then came emma, the unique Pascalene, and a whole list of others i can't recall.
There was also those 2 names combination such as Anne-marie, Sue-ann, Louisa-ann, celeste jillian etc. I thought they were kinda cool. Little did i realise how much they suffered during exams when they have to spend slightly more time then the average to either write their full name, or shade the alphabets of their names in the OAS.
recently came across a name, Siobhan. I mean seriously how on earth do u pronounce this without it sounding ridiculous? First thought was Shio-ban?? Siob-han?? one day, can't remember how, i figured that it was Sher-von. Sounds nice i thought. And with such a cool way of spelling it. On retrospect, if you live in singapore with such a name, 99% of the people you meet will pronounce it is some ridiculous fashion. Honest.
real or fake???

this...
really, why pay sooo much when u can get if for a fraction of the sum at
here iT looks pretty authentic except that it was not bought a t the dior boutique. I mean unless i spent days scruntinising dior bags, i really can't tell the difference.
i remembered those times in sec school when we really could tell the difference between "real" and "fake" Ralph Lauren polo tees. Something like, the Ralph Lauren's logo on the the fake tee has only 3 legs whereas the 'real' one has 4. Its really just a very very subtle difference. A friend admittedly told me that her Prada case was a fake, but she can't figure out what would give it away. We spent some time examining her case before i realise that on the inside, was a tag that says "Prada", and beneath that "Milano"

happiness is...

Shopping is a self sustaining activity. Once you start buying, that very act energizes you to shop more. The more you buy, the more you want to buy. It fuels you. You don't even think of eating.

B: i am rather surprise that a gal like u is single..
: what do u mean by that???
B: as in, someone who is as... its more like, if there is someone you like, i can imagine u telling him or chasing him..
Thats true. The problem is, there really isn't anyone around me who I feel attracted to.
I have to look further!
The 4400 rocks!

faster...

Underestimated my route today. With an appointment at 8pm, i was still running. Not that i wanted to continue, but rather i was stranded. With only my office pass and an ipod, there was nothing i could do except try to run faster... faster...
Today wasn't a great day for running. Felt heavy, very heavy. Wonder if it has anything to do with the humidity of its just me getting worse. Hope its not the latter. (i always have a problem with latter vs former, i think i still do)
Thats almost 8km, in 50mins. Its ok i guess...

photos
i managed to recover some photos from an old backup. Photos which i thought were irreversibly damaged by "cyclic redundancy error". Here's some of my favs...
(actually, only 4.. haha)
All except the bottom left one was taken from Ellis island, New York, 2002. Bottom left: Half Dome at Yosemite, California. What i like about this picture is the contrast between the dome, and the trail of people. Looks just like ant trails! Times like this when u stare at nature in awe.

And, i just discovered that i can make photo books on iphoto! thats so cool!! haha so much to play with here... =)
